UPDATE: From Oregon Parks & Rec Department –
Effective 6:00 p.m. Tuesday September 5th, campfires and open flames will be PROHIBITED within the Nehalem Bay Management Unit and on the ocean shores from the north Tillamook Head trail access south to the north jetty at Tillamook Bay. Briquettes, tiki-style torches and candles are also prohibited. Only fuel sources that can be turned off instantly, such as propane stoves and propane fire pits, will be allowed.
This ban will remain in effect until fire danger has lessened significantly, and comes on the heels of similar closures in both the Fort Stevens and Cape Lookout Management Units on the north coast. These three announced restrictions essentially ban fires in Oregon State Parks and on the ocean shore from the Columbia River to the Nestucca Spit.
