The Covid surge in our area continues to have consequences. This past week, several local organizations have announced a slew of event cancelations. To this point, they include:
– North Tillamook Library – Manzanita, OR Annual Book Sale (Sept. 3-4)
– Nehalem Bay Winery Labor Day Concert & Dinner
– 2021 Muttzanita Festival (Sept. 11)
– North County Recreation District NCRD Theater Welcome Back Celebration (Sept. 11)
– Nehalem Bay Volunteer Firefighters Association Cornhole Tournament (Sept. 11)
– Mudd Nick Foundation Annual Golf Tournament & Silent Auction (Sept. 17-18)
– Pine Grove Community House reopening celebration (Sept. 25)
– Lower Nehalem Community Trust Harvest Festival (Oct.)
This is a harsh blow to these organizations who rely on these events to raise funds that support their many local projects. For example, Muttzanita routinely raised around $10,000 to support the work of our local animal rescue, Animal Haven by The Sea Rescue. Now, they are all left scrambling to find alternative funding resources for another year, especially after having to cancel in 2020 as well.
