Hoffman Center To Hold Quilt Show This Summer

Quilters and fiber artisans from Manzanita, Nehalem and Wheeler and surrounding areas are invited to submit their works for an August show at the Hoffman Center for the Arts in Manzanita. The show will be collaboration between the Center and Creative Fabrics in Wheeler.

Interested artists are asked to provide a photo and size dimensions for their entry. Works can be sold during the show.

The deadline for entry registration is Thursday, Jun. 30, with a limit of two pieces per person. The items will need to be delivered Aug. 2 or 3.

Registration forms are available at Creative Fabrics in Wheeler. Completed Forms and images of the art works should be submitted at Creative Fabrics.

All wall hangings and quilts will need to be ready for hanging. Small quilts and wall hangings (no larger than 24 inches) can be hung with Velcro (strips available at Creative Fabrics). Larger quilts should have a 4” sleeve sewn to the back. Larger wall pieces should have a way to hang on a wall. Tables will be available for displaying dimensional art.

The works will be on display at the Center the weekends of Aug. 5-7 and Aug. 12-14.

Dan Haag
Born and raised in the great white north of Minnesota, Dan Haag felt the pull of the north Oregon Coast in the early 90s. Finding that rain never needed to be shoveled, he married an Oregon girl and settled in Manzanita, where he works as director of the Manzanita Visitors Center. He is also a freelance writer whose work has appeared in a variety of state and national publications. He spends his free time wandering the area’s many trails, supporting the Oregon wine and beer industry, perusing coastal bookstores, and chasing his black Labrador, Lilo, along the beach.
