Lloyd and Myrtle Hoffman were long-time and beloved residents of Manzanita. Upon their passing, their trust directed that their home and assets be used to start a community center for the arts and education.

Founded in 2004, The Hoffman Center for the Arts is a place for people to explore arts and culture, create new works, and connect to a fun and welcoming community.
We focus on engaging participants through a variety of creative pursuits: workshops in clay and visual arts, an open clay studio, author readings, writing workshops and publications, intimate musical performances, film screenings and discussions, conversation series, and horticulture.
Whatever your desire, come create some magic and become a part of a vital, thriving arts and cultural community.

HCA is an Oregon nonprofit 501(c)3 organization

The Nehalem Valley Historical Society is devoted to preserving the rich cultural heritage of Manzanita, Wheeler and Nehalem. From a pre-history visit by Sir Frances Drake to the modern towns of today, the area’s legacy is unique.

The Society maintains a public archive at in Manzanita where you can also see rotating exhibits that bring the history of the area to life through tangible items.

This is also where the society’s growing collection of paper artifacts is kept safe. The society is making its collection available online so even those unable to come to the physical location can benefit from it.

The Nehalem Valley Historical Society has an ongoing oral-history project. Interviews with locals are conducted and archived to make sure today’s history is not lost to the future.

The Society’s goal is to make history available to people through tangible items, and also through the online archive. It is a place where history will be protected. When we know where we came from we can step forward into the future with confidence.
