We have been getting a lot of questions about 4th of July events in Manzanita this year. In case you hadn’t heard, there will be no parade this year. Also, the annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser has been cancelled as well. As for evening fireworks, there hasn’t been a display in Manzanita since 2016.
As always, please remember that shooting fireworks on the beach and within neighborhoods is not permitted. Warmer weather is approaching and dry beach grass and trees are extremely vulnerable to fire. Be considerate of the many people and pets that call this place home.
Just because there won’t be a parade doesn’t mean we can’t show our unified national pride. Let’s see those American flags on your homes around Manzanita, Nehalem and Wheeler this year! And don’t forget the countless reasons to celebrate this nation and one another on Independence Day: good health, loved ones, acts of kindness towards one another.
If you are looking for meaningful ways to celebrate what it means to be an American, there are many big and small ways to to show love and support within out community. Consider donating non-perishable food items to the North County Food Bank. Also, our local animal rescue, Animal Haven By The Sea, is always seeking donations of food, toys, blankets and other much-needed items to care for rescued dogs and cats. We are blessed to have visitors who care about this place as much as we do.
As always, keep your hearts full and stay safe!
